Two friends and I spent the night at Lemp Mansion... Series
Two friends and I spent the night at Lemp Mansion on Friday, April 1, 2011. Even though we all three live in St. Louis, it was our first time there and we were very excited about the possibility of an adventure with a good scare!
We arrived around 5:00 p.m., checked in, received our keys and were told the house rules. After settling in to our rooms and exploring a little, we ate dinner at 6:00 in the restaurant on the main floor. (The food was outstanding!) Then we did some more extensive exploring both inside and out.†
Around 7:45 p.m. we visited with the staff in the bar for a while (they were very friendly and entertaining -- thanks Matt, Mark, and Grant!). At 8:15 we went to the museum to look around and watch a DVD documentary of the history of Lemp Mansion.†
At 9:15 p.m. we returned to the William Lemp suite and ate snacks, took photos, and played around half-heartedly with a Ouija board (nope, no results but we didn't expect any).†After a lot of girl talk, we were finally too tired to stay up and went to bed at midnight. I went to the Charles Lemp suite while my two friends stayed behind in the William Lemp suite.
Around 4:15 a.m. my two friends woke me up and said that they had been awaken when the chandelier in their bedroom (which they had turned OFF when they went to bed) had inexplicably turned itself ON, and for several minutes it was as if someone were very slowly moving the dimmer knob left and right. The lights weren't flickering like it was a bad connection, they were just repeatedly getting brighter and dimmer, brighter and dimmer. After a few minutes, they stayed on steadily and that was the end of the incident.
We immediately started taking photos of their room, and of my room, and were stunned when the photos showed both rooms filled with orbs. Next we went to the attic, main floor, and basement and took more photos. While none of those pictures were as dramatic as the shots in our bedrooms, in many of them you can see 2 or 3 orbs in the area being photographed.
By about 5:30 a.m. we went back to bed and that was the end of our little adventure. We got up a few hours later, packed up, and sadly said good bye to the Lemp Mansion. We will treasure the memory of that very enjoyable evening forever!
